I've never done Martial Arts before, what are the first steps?

Prior to your first-ever class, a staff member will call to prepare you for what to expect. Due to nature of the sport, this consultation call will provide information about our safety regulations and gym etiquette for new members.
We offer a complimentary trial to help you determine if this sport aligns with your fitness goals. Our team member will be happy to book your first free trial class during your consultation call.
Ready to give it a try? Simply visit THIS LINK to start the process!

I'm a beginner, what do I wear to class?

If you’re new and attending a Gi class, we offer rentals until you get your own. If you’re attending a No Gi class for the first time regular gym clothes will do. You can purchase our official academy Gi’s, rashguards and shorts at the gym.

Do you allow drop-ins?

We offer $30 Adult and a $20 Kids drop-in pass good for one class.

How long will it take to become a Black Belt?

To achieve proficiency in martial arts, techniques take time to master. Students are encouraged to set short-term and long-term goals. With dedication and perseverance, one can earn a black belt, and we are here to provide unwavering support throughout the journey. The process may take a few years, but for those with motivation, the end result is well worth the effort.

Will my belts be recognized through your Academy?

We are a member of the IBJJF and we subscribe to its rigorous standards of quality.

What does Gi and No Gi mean?

Practitioners wear loose-fitting clothes and perform classes barefoot. The uniform, known as “dogi” or “gi”, is tied with a belt that indicates skill level.

No-Gi refers to grappling without traditional uniform. Rash guards are commonly used, but some use compression shirts.

What is your GI policy?

We allow you to wear your own blank white Gi, however if you do not have one, you may rent one for $10 (to be returned at the end of your class) or purchase one of our academy Gi’s when you become a member.

Do you offer self-defense classes for non-members?

YES! We hold frequent seminars throughout the year. Although martial arts is rooted in the idea of promoting peace and preventing violence, the ability to defend oneself and emerge victorious in a physical altercation remains a fundamental aspect of its practice. Check our event schedule to sign up for our next available class.

What are the age cut-offs for classes?

Our classes are available for students aged 7 and above, and we do not have a formal age limit for our adult classes. If you believe that our adults-only class would be a better fit for you, please inform us, and we can explore the possibility further.

Is there a way to watch my kids during their class?

We practice on a matted surface, similar to a yoga or gym class. You are welcome to watch your kids from our viewing area.

Do you require a liability waiver?

Our gym requires a standard liability waiver, which is similar to those used by other sports facilities and activities.
